Top Tips to get around Throttling Restrictions on Large Lists

Laura, Corey and Joelle discuss the restrictions surrounding large lists and throttling and provide some useful tips on how to get around these.

Their recommendation is not to simply increase the throttling limit, they discuss better solutions including

  • cleaning up the list (create list alerts to notify you when the limit is drawing near could be useful)
  • archiving items on a regular basis
  • creating filtered views on the large list based on other criteria that people search for

Laura then demonstrates how to set up filtered views and sets up indexes on some of the columns to make this work, followed by a demonstration on how to set up Retention rules.

Please note, this session was recorded a while ago so the slack, social and chat features she describes at the beginning of the recording are not available now the session is on demand.
